Hello from Heather & Co.

Hello from Heather & Co.

I’m Lisa, and the Co… well, that’s you! It would be my joy to have your company here. Over the last two years, I’ve been learning to sew, embroider, quilt and smock...slow, therapeutic work that has brought me comfort in seasons of loss. What began as a way to busy my hands soon became more. I discovered I wasn’t alone. Along this creative journey, I found such beautiful company in others who shared the same love of making. And just like the heather on the hills, we bloom best together.

To mark the beginning of Heather & Co., I created a free beginner embroidery pattern inspired by the heather sprigs that grow across Irish hillsides.

Why Heather & Co.?

Some years ago my daughter was gifted a wonderful book of poetry, The Lost Words (by Robert Macfarlane & Jackie Morris). We're blessed to live in Ireland so the poem Heather caught our eye but as we read on it captured our heart too...

"Remember heather, the company it keeps, its treasure".

We dreamed of opening a little business bearing its name and sentiment. Before I had ever sewn a stitch Heather and Company was sown in my heart. It felt fitting that my first embroidery pattern would be a Heather sprig.

If you would like to stitch it with me, you can download the pattern as my free gift to you here. And below you will find some FAQs if you’re just getting started in embroidery. Thank you for your company dear friend... I'm excited to grow and bloom together.

Why This Heather Embroidery Pattern Is Perfect for Beginners

  • It uses only straight stitch and stem stitch.
  • The small motif makes it manageable for first projects.
  • The simple botanical shape builds confidence with repetition.
  • It can be framed in a hoop or added to small sewing projects such as drawstring bags.
